Why Data Matters

Herd data is one of the most powerful tools a dairy operation has — but only if it’s accurate, timely, and easy to use. That’s where DRMS comes in.

We help producers turn routine herd management data into reliable insight. From reproduction and health to genetics, production, and inventory, our tools bring clarity to what’s working, what’s changing, and what needs attention.

By connecting data across systems — and presenting it in ways producers and consultants can use — DRMS makes it easier to act with confidence.

Better data. Better decisions. Better outcomes.

What We Deliver

DRMS offers a connected portfolio of tools designed to help producers and consultants turn herd data into clearer decisions and better outcomes.

  • Dart – Flexible herd management software developed through decades of university-led research, used by thousands of U.S. dairies to track events, monitor trends, and guide day-to-day management.
  • PocketDairy – A mobile extension of Dart that puts cow records, breeding lists, and event entry tools in the palm of your hand — including Vet Check Maxx for preg check workflows.
  • DartSync – Automatically protects herd data and enables remote file support through secure background backup and syncing.
  • WebReports – Delivers online access to herd reports and test-day data for anytime, anywhere reference.
  • DairyMetrics – Allows producers and consultants to benchmark herd performance using standardized, industry-comparable data.
  • HerdHQ – A growing portfolio of web-based decision tools that help producers and consultants spot issues early, track trends, and make confident, data-driven decisions — with tools such as CowCompass, DairyDepot, HeiferHub, and MilkMetrics.

Where We Work

DRMS supports producers in 48 states and Puerto Rico, through a national network of more than 20 DHIA service affiliates.

We provide the data infrastructure, tools, and support that local teams rely on — backed by university-led development and decades of on-farm experience.

Support That Understands Dairy

Good tools matter — but so do the people behind them.

At DRMS, our support teams in Raleigh, NC and Ames, IA work closely with producers, consultants, and DHIA service affiliates to answer questions, solve problems, and make sure every herd gets what they need from our tools.

We’re known for being responsive, friendly, and easy to reach — whether it’s walking through a report, setting up a new user, or helping troubleshoot an issue.

Six DHI member producers and three DHI staff members serve as an Advisory Board to advise DRMS staff and approve major changes in programs or operating procedures. The Heads of the Animal Science Department for N.C. State University and Iowa State University serve as ex-officio members.
